What people are saying:

“Just wanted to say thank you for the unbelievably fun event on Saturday. This was my first ever "triathalon" and you guys had the perfect blend of fun and competition built in. Don't change a thing! The canoeing was a blast. As a fellow event planner (I direct the DBCA Doylestown 5k on Memorial Day Weekend) I could really appreciate the effort and the commitment of your volunteers. Everyone was really friendly and really great. It goes without saying that you can see the love with which you are all memorializing your brother’s life.”

“We just want to say thank you for putting on a great event. It was very well organized and so much fun! This was our first time doing anything like it and we had a blast!! We will definately do it again next year (although, next time we will practice steering a canoe since it turned out to not be as easy as we thought!). Even though we didn't know your brother, Noell, he is very lucky to have family and friends like you all that have done so much in his memory. I'm sure he would be very proud of how you've helped and continue to help others too.”
Thanks again and we'll see you next year!

Wow, what a day and what an event. I told someone yesterday that the event was wonderfully enjoyable. This is my second year as a participant and I looked forward to it all year. As one of the many people who were not directly affected with the loss of a loved one or even an aquaintance in the twin tower bombing, it is a way to get a little closer to an event that changed the world's lives forever. As much as I empathize with your tragic circumstances, I thank you for letting all of us share in your loss. I have felt a little more connected with 9/11 as a result of this event. I also love the fact that we are bringing joy to others who are suffering throught the make a wish foundation.

***Canoes***
Everyone is Required to use the canoes, oars and life jackets provided by Kitinie Canoes

Starting Line:
We will have the pre-race meeting 7:30 A. M.. Participants will walk to the starting line after pre-race meeting and the race will start at 8:00 Sharp. Upon the sounding of the gun you will follow the marked course for a total distance of 3/4 mile. Once you come to the transition area you will have to go to your team section and put on your life jacket and helmet and then proceed to where the canoes will be positioned. There will be volunteers to assist you.

Canoe Transition area:
The canoes will be positioned about 10 yds from the west entrance ramp into the lake and about 50 yds from the transition area. There will be volunteers there to assist each team in grabbing the next canoe (each team will not have an assigned canoe). You will grab your canoe and enter into the lake using the ramp to the right. Once in the water you will paddle clockwise to the first buoy, when circling the buoy it must stay to your right. Failure to keep buoy to your right will result in disqualification. You will then proceed west to the next buoy and circle that one and again keeping it to your right. Once around the buoy your team will paddle to the ramp on the left. Once upon the ramp you will exit with your canoe and carry it over to the area that will be posted CANOES. Volunteers will be at the beach area to ASSIST in moving boats to the boat storage area. Once that is completed you will head over to your teams location and transfer into the bike.

Attention Boaters:
To prevent injuries in case of capsize or while running to and from the lake, teams are required to wear shoes in their canoe.

Canoe/Bike Transition Area:
Once you are at your team transition you will mount your bike and head out onto the bike course by going east back onto the track. You will go twice around the lake and finish the biking right at the Transition area. Teams will have the total responsibility for the care and control of their bicycles while entering the course, Volunteers will be required to stay clear of bicycle rack area during the race and may not assist the team with the bicycles at any time.

The second offense will be cause for immediate disqualification. All passing must be done on the LEFT hand side and cyclist doing the passing must alert the cyclist in front that they are passing by shouting “On your Left.” This must be done to ensure the safety of all cyclists.

Fluid Stations on Run:
Water will be available at the transition area as well as on mile 1 and 3 of the run. Cyclists are encouraged to carry their own water on the cycling course. Teams should also arrange for water at the teams transition station.
